Site Update - MP3’s for download

Mike at ProfSfest 2004I haven’t had enough time to finish up the entire “studio” section of this site like I originally wanted - so I’ve put those plans on hold for a moment.

Anyway, in the meantime I’ve put a page together to provide links to a few of my tracks.

It’s better than having a non-functioning link on my menubar.

Riding lesson

Rhia and Yve

Seeing Yve in action as a riding instructor this weekend was really good. In all the time I’ve been with her
I’ve never seen her teach, which is a shame as she looks right at home in the arena. She’s teaching Charlie and Rhia at the moment, as well as a couple of (more advanced) lessons for the yard.

I was just there to take photos - I chose the 70-200 2.8 mounted on a monopod for the shoot. Urgh!!! If I thought taking band photos was hard because of the lack of light, this was a real experience. The arena was in almost complete darkness, the lights that were there seemed to cast no illumination at all.

Thank Nikon for ISO’s faster than 1000 that’s all I have to say on the matter! I might go along next week - I think I can do a lot better…

Open access to the law.

Just found this thanks to BoingBoing:

A great day for the law and for the people

I think this is a great development. Access to this information I believe is essential in order for the public to judge whether Government is correctly doing its job. As an example, I looked up the Communications Act 2003 which lays out clearly and distinctly what OFCOM should be doing, and how it should behave.

I hope that this is an indication of the Governments will to give us back our data.

Flickr whoring

Wooo!!!

I’ve just had the strangely exciting experience of seeing one of my photo’s on the Flickr Explore page (http://flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/?). To celebrate this dubious honour, I just had to take a screenshot.

Hurrah!!! My first Flickr success! According to Flickr Scout, I’ve reached #223 in the Interestingness chart - probably not that meaningful in the grand scheme of things, but at the moment ’tis a source of pride for myself! Just think of how many images are uploaded to Flickr each day.

Update - Blimey, actually getting into explore seems to make a bit of a difference - I’ve had a shed load more views than I would normally expect, and the Interestingness ranking for that picture has just reached #92!

Up to 38!!!Update #2 - Good grief, left alone for a couple of days and the picture is racing up the rankings and is now #38! I know this is a fairly meaningless metric, but it sure is entertaining.

Music video madness

Toby just pointed me at a huge list of music videos on YouTube (11520 songs to be precise). There’s loads to enjoy in this list - plus a bunch of things I’ve never heard of.

To make things easier, I knocked up a quick page to get to them without any unneccessary fluff… so without any further ado, I present…

My YouTube music video toy.

Warning - This page can waste serious amounts of time!
